The ZiggyCam will be live for the month long trip. With the exception of when anchored after dark (i.e. saving battery usage rather than broadcast a cam feed of the dark) or during a rare lack of cellphone signal the cam will be live 24/7 along with the chat room even miles offshore. The soft goal this year is to hit Mackinac Island and round Drummand Island at the top of Lake Huron before heading back home to Detroit.
We Started off our planned day of tourism with a bicycle ride.
The small country store across the street has everything you may need for a price and a large bike rack full of bikes for the boaters to use for free.
We jumped on a couple of Schwinn cruisers and headed for adventure. First stop was the Old Lighthouse. This is a cool place with a small museum in the light keepers house and you can climb the light tower for a couple of bucks.
From there we rode a mile north to the "new" lighthouse, new meaning 1870... We paid to play and climbed the 132 some odd steps to the top of the tower.
After returning the bikes amid a swarm of relentless deer flies we retreated to the boat for lunch/dinner.
I cut up some potatoes and onions and grilled them with the Italian sausages we picked up in East Tawas a few days earlier.
We ate ourselves into food coma.
Once we resurfaced and hung out for a while it was time to wander up to the bar. The bar here is a strange little nook on the side of the restaurant that makes for good people watching. Tonite was no exception!
