The ZiggyCam will be live for the month long trip. With the exception of when anchored after dark (i.e. saving battery usage rather than broadcast a cam feed of the dark) or during a rare lack of cellphone signal the cam will be live 24/7 along with the chat room even miles offshore. The soft goal this year is to hit Mackinac Island and round Drummond Island at the top of Lake Huron before heading back home to Detroit.
24) The day started out beautifully right from the start. The girls went up to the play ground where the little one ran herself silly and I finished some boat maintenance chores readying for the days cruise.
Pt. Huron is a short 30 mile hop south to the southern end of the lake.
Once we fueled up and hit the open water I threw a jib and proceeded on yet another day of motor sailing due to light winds.
The sun was hot and the water an emerald blue.
Relaxing on autopilot listening to tunes became the mainstay of the afternoon. jane whipped up some kick ass lunch miles off shore and I sucked down the ice water under the sun to cool off.
Once the Blue Water Bridges connecting The USA and Canada came over the horizon we shut down the engine and pulled in the sail for a much anticipated swim 5 miles off shore.
The water was damn cold but that doesn't deter a 7 year old. We made her get in 1st before us old people committed to the dip. we never ventured far from the swim ladder and after about 5 minutes we all were more than cooled off and climbed back on board.
The bridges are always fun to pass under and Pt. Huron is a fun stop. I docked there for a lot of years so there is no sneaking in. People seem to come out of the woodwork to holler welcome back from the banks of the river .
