The ZiggyCam will be live for the month long trip. With the exception of when anchored after dark (i.e. saving battery usage rather than broadcast a cam feed of the dark) or during a rare lack of cellphone signal the cam will be live 24/7 along with the chat room even miles offshore. The soft goal this year is to hit Mackinac Island and round Drummand Island at the top of Lake Huron before heading back home to Detroit.
Day three started out with a nice breeze and a 10am shot out of the harbor. As I was raising my sails a pair of A10 Warthogs out of Selfridge Airbase next to my home dock buzzed me just above mast level across the water. It was a cool start to the day!
The breeze died after an hour of good sailing leaving me to motor sail on and off all day. The water was smooth and the sun was hot. I climbed down the swim ladder a few times and ladder surfed to fight the 85dgr temps.
It was a peacful day of listening to the xm radio, sipping ice cold beer and munching on the awesome left over pizza from Mary's Diner in Pt. Sanilac.
I got a little breeze kick up as I topped the thumb and cut north across Saginaw Bay. That let me kill the motor and slide slowly along listening to the Jimmy Buffet concert in Chicago live over the satellite radio. The sun set straight ahead of me and the meteor shower was kicking all night!
I rounded the break wall in the wee morning hours and was greeted by Jane and her little one still holding her teddy bear she was sleeping with minutes before. Ahhhh it felt good to be at my home away from home with the family again.
Sunday will be a rest day waiting for Steve, next weeks crew...
