I was up early was greeted by a steady rain and heavy fog. I packed up the bike and rolled out glad I had fresh tires on the wet pavement.
The plan was to head back south and pick to US-6 then head east into the mountains. I topped off the tank while still in civilization and hoped the rain would stop soon as the forecasters predicted.
It was a good ride rain and all. As long as I'm moving the bike keeps me very dry head to toe. I soon came across a small town dinner in a bump in the road called Wattsburg.
I settled in for breakfast at "Darlene's Home Again family Restaurant". It is a great place to soak up the local flavor. As the sign says it is "Biker Owned" so you know everyone is friendly. I got the hungry man's breakfast and soon realized that men in Wattsburg must get pretty damn hungry. It's a rare site to see me not be able to finish a plate of greasy eggs and pig.
The weather was letting up a little as I waddled back out to the bike. It became miles of light drizzle and wet roads. Even though I was dry behind the BMW fairing it was not the ride I wanted through the sweeping turns all day across the state. I considered finding a hole in the wall motel and hiding out all day hoping for dry roads on Monday.
I decided to push on. I was chasing the weather across the state. I would stop and take a break and watch the skies brighten and the roads start to dry. I would then jump on the bike and ride right back into the rain. I decided to stop for an hour or two and let the storm front get out ahead of me.
This plan went into effect when I came upon the "Towne Tavern" in Clarendon. This was a great place to hide. I sat and drank several Yuenglings with the boys and watch the NASCAR race happening back in Michigan on TV.
The plan worked! The roads dried up and the sun even peeked out once in a while!!
I kept rolling east across US-6 and all was good. The road is a nice string of sweepers making for a relaxing fun ride with no surprises letting you watch the scenery more and the road less. Today's 3 1/2 hours of video came from this stretch of road.
I eventually picked Wellsboro to spend the night. I found another nice little motel there and settled in. "The Canyon Motel" turned out to be a great place to hideout for the night. I found dinner and a 6-pack and ended up falling to sleep after the 1st beer... The fresh air and long ride had worn me out.
I have about 300 miles left to my destination in Massachusetts so I can either make a big run for it or take my time and do some back road exploring splitting it into a 2 day putt..
