My dad and Kevin
headed home making way for this weeks crew. Jan and Tony arrived
Saturday afternoon with a truck load of gear and 2 coolers of food.
That's the nice thing about opening this run up to girlfriends,
they love to pack food! A guy shows up with a Slim Jim , Fritos,
a can of Cheese Wiz and four cases of beer.
The weather is looking
rough this week with lots of storms coming through the first half
of the week. Although the plan was to keep plunking north our first
port o call turned out to be South to Port Austin. The ride across
the bay was another rough one with a steady 15 knot wind pushing
6 and 10 foot rollers across the beam. We reefed the jib in about
half way and held the knot meter in the mid eight's all the way
while rockin and rollin and spraying water across the bow. It was
a gut churning ride but a huge order of lasagna at Joe's Pizzeria
made it all worth while.
After a great time
in Pt. Austin we headed North on Friday back across the Saginaw
Bay to East Tawas where J&T left their truck all week. Tony
sailed the Peregrine across the 30 miles of water that spans the
bay in about 4 hours while Jan caught up on her sleep down below.
Even though we
were pinned down by the weather all week we still had a blast. Lots
and lots of good food including some kick ass ribs and baked potato
on the grill. The Bloody Mary's every morning was a good start also.
Wake n bake baby!!!
