On our way up to the Apostle Islands to shoot the Latitudes & attitudes TV show we stopped into Kenosha Wisconsin for an "unofficial Lats & Atts Party" at the yacht club.
Kenosha is well known for the America Motors Company plant that turned out cars until the demise of the company. The old factory has been leveled and a beautiful water front complex has been put in it's place. High end condos, unique restaurants and creative bars now make a hot spot out of the basin off of Lake Michigan. Just a short hop north of Chicago by boat or car makes it a great place to spend a day or weekend for a get away.
Right in the hub of all the rebirth of the waterfront is the historic Kenosha Yacht Club. Complete with a great bar and a top notch restaurant called The Blue Fish , the club is first class. The deck looks out over the basin and across at the always active town. People boating, walking and biking keep the waterfront busy.
Even though a strong windstorm washed out the party just as it was starting to really swing it was still a great time by all that showed up. Jim, Commodore Mike, Paul, Harry and everyone else made our stay a pleasant one. These guys/gals are a lot of fun. Dave and I felt like we were with old friends right away. I want to thank them for everything they did for us and hope to see them all again.
I fully recommend spending a weekend by boat or car in the Kenosha waterfront complex. There is a very nice Best Western Hotel right on the water facing the yacht club that we stayed in that was great.
Go have a good time and tell them Ziggy sent you.
