labor of love
5-8&9-1999: This weekend was a little bit tamer than last. Just the Skipper ( me ) and Maryann on this work detail. C.K. was out stepping his sisters mast on her Catalina 25. He’s still walking softly around his wife after last weekends exploits! It’s official now, Miejers Thrifty Acres has ruined the “business” half of the film C.K. took last week on our night of pillaging.

No pictures of “Dino”, no pictures of the me standing in the row boat at 2:30am holding a 5th of brandy in one hand and a pirated pair of panties in the other. The Peregrine wheeled out nicely and is seen here waiting for a coat of wax. Removing all the tape left from painting the stripes took much of the day Saturday.

I’m still working on a fresh Falcon graphic for the stern to cover the old one. It’s hand painted and is starting to crack and fade from the weather. If all goes well this weekend we will finish bottom painting and have her ready to launch for the following weekend. This Saturday is my Birthday though, so there is no guaranty on my work ethic as such! But with only three weeks left before my 1st vacation of the summer I’m looking to get her in as soon as possible.
the water level is still down but there is a couple of sailboats already in the Yacht Club so I have high hopes of getting her in there even though I have a deeper keel than most sailboats. I’m expecting my upgraded knot meter and new depth meter back from Signet Marine tomorrow, so getting in may be easier than getting out last fall when I had no way of telling how deep it was until I started plowing the river bottom with the keel. It’s going to be all sunshine this weekend so we should kick butt.
